In its forthieth year, Earth Day is a global initiative aimed at promoting environmental awareness. Today more than a billion people from 190 countries have committed themselves to taking action to protect the planet and its resources. People from around the world have made pledges Earth Day’s website to reduce their impact on world resources, with 31 000 000 ‘acts of green’. Pledges range from cutting out meat one day a week, to growing more vegetables, recycling cans and bottles, and walking to work.
