Long Beach in Noordhoek is a fantastic location for a horse ride. Imhoff Equestrian Centre offers two hour-long horse rides along the water’s edge on this beautiful beach towards Chapman’s Peak and back.
For a different horseback experience, try Horse Trails Safaris. You start at a farm in Ottery and trot past fynbos, across rivers and over sand dunes to reach the beach, which you can follow as far as Muizenberg. The horses are placid and suitable for riders of any level.
Another option is exploring the cityscape in an old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage, starting at the Castle of Good Hope. A tour guide provides information while you clip-clop through the streets of Cape Town to the Company’s Gardens. The carriage rides run at 10h30, 12h45 and 14h45 every day except Sundays.
