  1. How disappointing that you did not include the Elgin Valley Market – although i brought it to your attention a while back!

  2. Try Holden Manz Farmers (Klein Genot)market in Franschhoek, they know what people want and enjoy.

  3. Market every 2nd Sunday of the month in Schoenmakerskop starting at 9am behind the tennis court in Victoria Drive as you enter the village. Food, cheese, arts, crafts, plants etc. Small market still growing and trying to attract visitors and specialist foodie stalls.

  4. What about the Lady Slipper Market outside Port Elizabeth??

  5. You missed the relatively new and absolutely stunning Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay.
It is part of a Hangberg Social Upliftment Project and to quote from their website, http://bayharbour.co.za/home.html, “The tenant and product mix focuses on a broad range of carefully-selected art, craft, fashion and interior design, whilst also tantalising the tastebuds with a wide array of exquisite fresh and prepared foods.” And I can confirm that they live up to this description!

It is open Fridays 5pm to 9pm, Saturdays & Sundays 9:30am to 4pm and with all trading areas weather-proofed it is a wonderful place to have breakfast, lunch or a drink while shopping for delicious food, breads and fresh veggies as well as a host of other well crafted items.

  6. Hi
This information is very old – several of these markets no longer exist, or they have changed venue! The Northcliff Organic Market no longer operates and we are not sure that the Parkview Tyrone Ave is in existence; the Jozi Market moved to the Pirates Sports Club in Greenside 18 months ago. Please check your facts, as markets do come and go in current economic times.

    • Hi Iris. Thanks for the update. This is an archived piece from the magazine uploaded in April 2010. We’ll have a look at updating it, or at least make it clearer that this information is 2 years old now. All the best.
