Littered with giant baobab trees, the Kruger National Park’s Pafuri region is a beautiful landscape and a prime destination for birders during summer. Stay in Sanparks’ Punda Maria rest camp.

Camping from R150 a night for two people sharing, bungalows from R555 a night for two people sharing, tel 012-428-9111, e-mail reservations@sanparks.org, www.sanparks.org.

For luxury, stay at Safari Adventure Company’s Pafuri Camp from R1 850 a person a night (incl. meals and two game drives), tel 011-257-5111, e-mail info@safariadventurecompany.com, web www.safariadventurecompany.com.

Photo note:
A sunset silhouette is one of the most popular and most difficult photographs to take. A strong subject – such as this baobab – is critical, but ensure it’s separated from its background or else your subject will be lost and your photograph will lack impact.
